Designing web-based tools to study student problem solving

Web-based tools, written in Flash, have been designed, created, and implemented. These programs allow the user to access and use the tool to provide a Lewis structure, representation of atoms and molecules using spheres, word problems, organic representations of structures and reactions. In all cases, the software also collect detailed information of the user's actions and steps. The design and strategy for the use of these materials will demonstrated and discussed. Some statistical approaches for analysis will be presented.
