Stereoslective synthesis of multifunctionalized dihydrofuran through condensation of nitroalkene, aldehyde, and 1,3-diiketone

Highly functionalized dihydrofuran(DHF) was synthesized through an stereoselective three component condensation. High yield and single diastereomer was obtained in all cases. Different catalyst systems had been evaluated for this transformation. With the different functional groups on the DHF substrates, further transformation led to complex natural product backbone synthesis in an efficient way.
