Borazarobenzonitrile: An electron-deficient 1,2-dihydro-1,2-azaborine

Borazarobenzonitrile is a benzonitrile analog in which a C-C bond unit in the arene has been replaced with an isosteric B-N bond unit. We prepared a borazarobenzonitrile derivative from a B-Cl substituted 1,2-dihydro-1,2-azaborine via a silver halide metathesis reaction using silver cyanide. The characterization and reactivity of borazarobenzonitrile as a ligand for transition metals will be presented.
