| The purpose of the university technology transfer office is to identify, protect and commercialize intellectual property developed from research for the benefit of the inventors, the university and the public. Offices are usually perceived as having two basic functions, service and enterprise. How an individual office operates depends on staffing, budget and how the office balances these two functions. This balance can vary with the history, culture and administration of the office and the university. This presentation will discuss developing a successful and beneficial relationship with the technology transfer office which depends, in part, understanding this balance and the constraints faced by a particular office. |
