ACS awards: The gold standard for chemistry achievement

Many scientific societies and organizations give awards, but the American Chemical Society's awards are recognized among chemists as the "gold standard". The author will talk about why ACS awards have achieved this stature in the chemistry community; why awards matter, especially for women; and the impact that ACS awards have had on the lives of notable women chemists.
