| Humans have desired the power to harness energy whenever they need it and wherever they are. The discovery and invention of the battery has been a major breakthrough in bringing this dream to reality. The purpose of this project is to share with students the work and discovery of great minds in bringing about this modern luxury and need, from the Baghdad Battery of the Voltaic Piles and Daniell Cell and progessing to the modern battery. By showing how the battery has advanced through the years, the students understand how asking questions is critical to the advancement of science. This project is targeted primarily for high school students, but with a small adaptation, it could be targeted to students of any age. In addition, teachers are provided with tools to enable them to present these essential scientific objectives in the classroom environment using inexpensive, readily accessible resources. |
