The comparative behavior of light actinide ions with a common ligand provides a unique opportunity to assess the relative importance of the variations in size and electronic configuration on structural, spectroscopic, kinetic and thermodynamic variables. We will present a variable temperature 13C NMR ligand exchange study using carbonato complexes of the linear actinyl ions AnO22+ (An = U, Np, Pu, and Am).
