| Sulfonic acid functionalized mesoporous ZSM-5 was synthesized by starting from the nanocrystallites of ZSM-5 crystals followed modification with 3-mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane (MPTES) and subsequent oxidation to convert into sulfonic acid group, then mesoporous ZSM-5 were synthesized together with counter ionic surfactant, cetyltertiaryaminebromide (CTAB). MPTES (3-mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane) was used as a surface modifier of the preformed ZSM-5 nanocrystals in order to develop the mesoporosity through the interaction with cationic surfactant (CTAB) as well as the organo sulfonic acid functionality and modifier of mesoporosity to give shape-selective control. The resulted single crystal-shaped morphology of mesoporous ZSM-5 was proven to have intracystalline mesoporsity and bifuctional acid sites induced by both sulfonic acid group and framework aluminium and showed shape-selectivity on 2-acetyl-6-methoxynaphthalene (2A-6MN) in Friedel-Craft acylation of 2-methylnaphthalene with acetic anhydride due to the modification of mesoporisity with the sulfonic acid group functionalization. |
