| A feature of cellulosic fibers is higher moisture sorption ability as compared with synthetic fibers, but is slightly lower than wool. We attempted to improve the ability in order to expand utilization of cellulosic fibers by means of polymer blend and graft polymerization. The moisture sorption and sorption heat of viscose rayon were enhanced by the blend of alginate into the alkaline dope. The parameters of cotton yarns were also improved by the graft copolymerization with acrylic acid and methacrylic acid using potassium persulfate as a catalyst under the catalytic influence of cobalt sulfate after the cotton treatment with amine compounds. The ability of cellulosic copolymer was further enhanced by sodium hydroxide treatment to form sodium carboxylate. |
