The Drury University Student Affiliate American Chemical Society Chapter has 38 active members which includes 20 national ACS members. Our core chapter mission is to ‘make a difference.' Our chapter's most important activity is conducting magic shows for elementary school children. During the past year our chapter has conducted 125 magic shows for an average elementary class size of 20. Hopefully 2500 children are more likely to pursue chemistry at higher ends after being fascinated by our magic shows. Our chapter events this year included celebrating Mole Day and National Chemistry Week by sponsoring a mole competition, magic shows, and a chemistry poster session for the entire Drury University community. Other events included a chemistry department bowling night, a tour of a local microbrewery, Relay for Life, and sponsoring chemistry related lectures. In general, our chapter's events and activities have lived up to our mission statement of making a difference.
