Over the years, our student affiliate chapter has participated in yearly outreach projects to share our enthusiasm for chemistry and science, but we always felt we needed to reach a larger audience and provide a wider variety of programs. During the past year, partnerships with the following organizations have helped us begin to achieve this goal: Alpha Chi Sigma, the Penn State MRSEC, Science Lions, and the Penn State chemistry faculty. The partnered events over the past year include: co-hosting an afternoon of chemistry activities for children with cancer who wished to be scientists through THON, the largest student philanthropy in the country; Space Day on the Penn State Campus, hosted by the Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium; Children's Day at the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts; the Nittany Chemical Society Halloween Magic Show; a Haunted Lab tour; and an annual chemistry talent show, “American Wizard”.
