In my first year at MSTU, I was scheduled to teach the second-semester course of the General-Organic-Biochemistry sequence. However, my chemistry training was in inorganic chemistry and I had never taken a formal course in biochemistry. In this talk, I will describe how I used the molecular modeling program Spartan in this class to teach students about the chemical reactivities of organic and biologically-relevant molecules and to describe and explain the chemical reactions that these molecules undergo.
