Women in Science Day was held on October 27th, 2007 at Albion College. High school girls from across Michigan were invited to participate in labs experiments and interactive sessions with female faculty members within the Chemistry and Physics departments. College students were directly involved in working with the participants. Current science majors also served on a student panel to address questions posed by the high school girls. Joan Ferrini-Mundy, a director at the National Science Foundation, gave the keynote speech and focused on women participating in STEM programs. Participants took part in post event surveys and their results were compiled. The event was the first ever of its kind held at Albion College and will continue as an annual student run event.
