The Chemistry of Color is a theme-based course designed to meet a college science requirement for non-science majors. This course, originally developed for non-traditional students, is offered in a hybrid format. Lectures are on-line, along with associated discussions and quizzes. Laboratories and additional classroom activities occur on campus. We have found the flexible hybrid model to have many advantages over a completely on-line course in our small college environment. Specifics of the course structure, student survey data and advantages and some challenges of the hybrid model will be discussed.
