The Center for Authentic Science Practice in Education (CASPiE) is a multi-institutional collaborative effort designed to address major barriers to providing research experiences to beginning undergraduate science students. As part of CASPiE, the Department of Chemistry at Ball State University has implemented the use of the antioxidant module in the second semester general chemistry course. Although the module was successfully completed by the students last spring, many modifications were required to allow for the possibility of future expansion. The focus of this project was to adapt the current module to better fit the needs of our program. The primary goal was to reorganize the module into four distinct three-hour lab periods which best utilize the available resources at our university.
