Community outreach and research opportunities are the foundation of the Duquesne University Student Affiliates chapter. The accomplishments of the Duquesne University Student affiliates include: participating in the Duquesne University Undergraduate Research Program; community involvement during National Chemistry Week at the Carnegie Science Center; performing demonstrations at the annual SciTech Spectacular in Pittsburgh; and providing judges for the annual Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Sciences competition in Western Pennsylvania. In addition, Duquesne University has been an annual host to an American Chemical Society Pittsburgh Section Student Affiliates Meeting in Miniature. This event promotes local Student Affiliates interaction and facilitates discussion of student research interests. In recognition of the achievements and performance of the chapter, the Duquesne University SAACS has been honored with the Outstanding or the Commendable Chapter Award from the American Chemical Society for over two decades.
