Alpha pinene, a known antimicrobial compound is a rigid bicyclic monoterpene with a double bond that allows for a variety of functional and skeletal transformations. We have synthesized skeletally altered R alpha Pinene and S alpha pinene derivatives. The resulting tricyclic compounds have been tested for their antimicrobial potential using TLC bio-autographic assays. The results of this study will be presented.
