Reactions of atomic carbon with alkynes

The reactions of alkynes with arc generated carbon atoms will be described. The ability of these reactions to produce cyclopropenylidenes will be examined. The computational investigation of these cyclic carbenes, using density functional methods, will be also discussed with respect to their structures and reactivity.
