Making connections between the disciplines is an inherent aspect of the liberal arts education that student receive at Nazareth College. One of the most fertile of these has been the association between Chemistry and the Creative Arts. This work reports the results of a summer long collaboration between a chemist and a ceramic artist in constructing and then running an outdoor raku kiln with biodiesel. The “green-ness” of the project along with the interesting extensions and applications to chemistry education will be presented.
