In the fall 2007 semester at Minnesota State University Moorhead, a descriptive inorganic chemistry course based on the POGIL approach was implemented. Materials were developed to correspond to most of the learning objectives in Part I of Gary Wulfsberg's text, Inorganic Chemistry. Successes and challenges in writing materials for selected topics will be shared. The generally small number of students in this course makes the comparison of student performance in the POGIL course to that in a traditional course difficult. However, overall student and instructor satisfaction with the course will be discussed.
