Chemistry student organizations at a large university compete not only with other organizations, but also the time constraints of their members. Previously, we studied the interests of the undergraduate science population at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in a chemistry organization. Based on this data, we developed a strategy to incorporate the ideas suggested by the study and formulated plans to focus on a more student centered organization. To accomplish this goal, we developed a new organizational system that allowed for the growth and development of our chapter. Not only do we continue to increase our membership annually, but we also are working to develop better relationships with other chemistry organizations and with the community. We continually seek to share chemistry with the students of the university. With this restructured system, we now have the ability to provide undergraduates with the many opportunities in chemistry for years to come.
