| In 1994, the Journal of Chemical Education published a paper defining chemistry education research. As one of the authors of that article, Dorothy Gabel is, in many ways, one of the founding scholars in the field of chemistry education research. As an introduction to this awards symposium, this paper will reflect upon the growth of chemistry education research and our collective debt for the leadership provided by Dr. Gabel. |
