| SIUE Chemistry Club has organized a large number of social events in campus and in the regional community. The Club's program consists of several tours, including: Anheuser-Busch, Illinois State Police Forensic Lab and Sigma Aldrich; sponsoring departmental holiday parties; staffing the Regional Science Fair; and participatiing at ACS meetings. In addition, members designed and silk-screened club t-shirts and ran a program of hands-on science activities for children at the St. Louis Science Center for National Chemistry Week. Fund-raising projects this year included an SIUE book/bake sale, chemistry laboratory notebook sales, and monetary awards from the SIUE Student Senate to co-sponsor Prof. Poulter (University of Utah). To create a bridge between campus and the community, we participated in canned food/ clothing drives, and Cougars Volunteering for Science and Tri-City Youth -- where club members perform hands-on chemical demonstrations in local schools. |
