Educating the public about chemistry is an important part of the North Dakota State University ACS Student Affiliate Chapter. This allows the chapter to get involved with our community and show how chemistry/science is important, fascinating, and fun. At NDSU, the chapter participates in outreach programs throughout the year interacting with students of all ages. Although the main target is younger students, outreach activities range from elementary to college levels. Our goal is to show how enjoyable science can be in hopes that they will continue down a science path. Activities range from displays and handing out chemistry-related materials on campus to chemistry/science demonstrations at regional schools. This year the chapter has also begun to increase the awareness of green chemistry. Outreach activities help increase the publics' awareness of chemistry, show science can be fascinating, as well as educational, while enabling the club to engage in the learning experience.
