Dehydration and decarbonylation of sugars in aqueous solution

One of the goals of green chemistry is the conversion of biomass into chemical feedstocks. This research will attempt to utilize an aqueous system and a water soluble derivative of Wilkinson's catalyst in order to convert glucose into alcohols and polyols, which are useful chemical feedstocks.
