Thiosemicarbazone compounds are potent biological agents, and also act as ligands to a whole host of transition metal ions such as palladium and nickel. A series of eight new thiosemicarbazone and semicarbazone compounds synthesized from a formyl chromone backbone in our laboratory will be presented. The synthesis of this new series of compounds is straightforward, and characterization by 1H NMR and IR supports the proposed structures. Research efforts to synthesize the palladium complexes will also be discussed.
