Longwood University chemistry club goes green

This poster highlights the activities of the Longwood University SAACS chapter to promote “green” practices amongst those people in our new science complex and on campus. Our current and future activities are aimed at increasing knowledge, changing perceptions, and promoting participation in environmentally-conscience activities. In collaboration with the University's Sustainability Committee we have instituted a plastics recycling program in the new science center, assisted in the grand opening of the new student recreation center, a LEED-certified facility, and hosted seminars focused on green issues. We have also assisted the organic chemistry instructor with implementation of several green experiments into the organic laboratory curriculum. This poster will also describe our National Chemistry Week, Mole Day, and Earth Day activities.
