| The percentage of school-age children being home schooled has increased drastically, and continues to increase. The problem is not that students are being home schooled, rather the parents in charge of educating their children may not always be able to provide certain aspects of the curriculum, such as laboratory chemistry. This is mainly due to limited space and resources available in the home school environment. This work involves designing a set of hands-on chemistry laboratory experiments that can be performed using household equipment and reagents. These four laboratory experiments are designed to enhance the students' understanding of different areas of chemistry such as pH indicators, paper chromatography, density and chemical reactions. This set of laboratory exercises is designed to help home schooled students gain a more thorough understanding of important areas of chemistry regardless, of the resources available. |
