The room temperature reaction between N,N'-dimethylpiperazine bisborane (DMP bisborane) and acetone-d6 was studied by NMR and found to give DMP monoborane. Over several weeks the DMP bisborane peaks decreased while the DMP monoborane peaks increased. Previous research has found that the reaction of DMP bisborane with free DMP to give DMP monoborane takes a day or two. The identities of the other products are less certain and will be discussed.
