Progress towards the synthesis of novel derivatives of the biologically active dragmacidin alkaloids will be presented. Utilizing a three-step procedure, N-substituted 3,6-bisindolylpiperazine-2,5-diones have been synthesized from sarcosine anhydride. These products are being prepared for submission to the Cancer Research Institute for comparative studies.
