The purpose of this presentation is to share fundamental design principles for successful guided inquiry laboratory activities. The design principles and examples that will be shared have resulted from experimenting with different laboratory formats in general chemistry over a period of several decades. Learning goals include cultivating interest in science and chemistry, enhanced understanding of content, development of teamwork abilities and scientific reasoning skills, and writing and speaking experiences.
