Synthesis and characterization of heterocyclic dicarbonyl pigments

Synthesis of heterocyclic di-carbonyl compounds with photochromic properties are presented. A variety of industrial pigments are synthesized with different arylamine substituents. Addition of metal salt to reaction mixture increases the yield significantly. The synthesized compounds are structurally characterized by spectroscopic techniques and X-ray crystallography.
