This presentation will share information regarding professional development as a chemical educator at a community college. While a community college faculty member will not have graduate students or a chemical education program akin to a university faculty member, the opportunities for research, curriculum development and other education endeavors abound. The small class size and close working conditions with students affords unique insights into student learning and understanding. Release time, summer funding, and grant opportunities also exist at the community college for research purposes. Finally successes, setbacks, and challenges on the tenure path at a community college will be discussed.
