Synthesis of serrulatane-type compounds with antimicrobial properties

Ndi has recently isolated serrulatane-type compounds with antmicrobial properties from Eremophila neglecta. Analogs of serrulatane (shown below) have been synthesized from substituted tetralones. The synthesis and antimicrobial properties of these compounds are presented.
