Would you like to start a Chemists Celebrate Earth Day (CCED) event in your section but have questions? Would you like to thank the volunteers who have participated in Earth Day events in your area? Have you developed and implemented an outstanding Earth Day celebration? The Volunteer Engagement and Recognition Subcommittee of the Committee of Community Activities is piloting a mentoring program to assist coordinators of CCED events. Also beginning with CCED 2008, two Chemluminary Awards will be offered in the following categories – Creative and Innovative Use of the Earth Day Theme and Greatest Community Involvement in Chemists Celebrate Earth Day. Finally, the Office of Community Activities has the Salutes to Excellence Program which provides an opportunity to recognize the positive impact made by an individual or corporation with the presentation of a commemorative plaque. See how these resources can be used to enhance outreach and encourage volunteer participation for Earth Day in your area.
