| Chemistry is full of abstract concepts and often requires mathematics, thus, it is considered difficult to comprehend. To further compound chemistry's poor image, many instructors just talk about chemistry and chemical reactions, and the students have no concrete concepts of the phenomena being described. Pictures help, videos are better, but live demonstrations and hands-on activities in the classroom enhance the learning of concepts. This presentation will discuss a number of demonstrations and hands-on activities that illustrate chemical principles and concepts that the author uses in classroom presentations in the general chemistry course. |
