| I have been using “clickers” in my general chemistry class since 2004 and it has changed the atmosphere of the classroom. The focus of the presentation will be on student perception of using clickers and the style of question I use. I have collected data each semester using the Student Assessment of Learning Gains, SALG, instrument with several customized questions to solicit student feedback on clickers. These free response comments can be categorized in four areas: engagement, anonymity, understanding and critical thinking. Students overwhelmingly recommend I use them in future classes - generally by a better than 4 to 1 margin. |
