| We have prepared phase diagrams for solid mixtures of phenylacetic acid with choline bromide and choline iodide. The eutectic between choline chloride and phenyl acetic acid has been described.1 It is expected that the interface between the phases can give insight into the mechanism of melting in these eutectics. We hypothesize that eutectics composed of ionic species should be formed in a phase composition that is indeterminate of the cation present if the cations are members of the same periodic group. We hypothesize a trend linking inter-phase morphology and melting behavior in this series of eutectics based on choline halides and phenylacetic acid. 1. Abbott, A.
