| A liberal arts course on Chemistry in Art is described. The course emphasizes how human use of materials to make both utilitarian objects and art parallels the development of chemical understanding. The lab component allows students to experiment with a variety of art materials including metals, glass, pigments and dyes. Core science concepts include spectroscopy, redox chemistry, acid-base chemistry, and intermolecular forces. |
