Are there any topics that are considered absolutely necessary for a one-semester inorganic chemistry course? What topics are maybe not so necessary? How should modern inorganic chemistry research areas be touched upon in this course? These are some of the questions presented to those who teach a one-semester inorganic chemistry at the undergraduate level. This presentation will cover the choices made for the one-semester Advanced Inorganic Chemistry at the College of Charleston where this course is required for all B.S. Chemistry and Biochemistry majors. Included will be overview of the course along with the particular areas of extra focus that might incorporate the more active areas of current research interests by inorganic chemists.
