The Eastern Oregon University SAACS chapter had an outstanding year of community outreach activities, professional engagements, service to the university and fundraising. To educate young people about science, we hosted school groups and presented magic shows and information about college life. During NCW we hosted “Girls in Science”, for more than 100 girls, sixth to eighth grade. We helped with the annual EOU robotic competition. For Earth Day, we held a Chemistry Merit Badge for Boys Scouts and organized a booth on-campus showing how to make recycled paper. Through many fundraising activities the club sent members to the San Francisco and Chicago meetings to present research posters. Through an IAG grant, the club organized a nanotechnology workshop in San Francisco. With a grant from ACS, and help from our advisor and the Richland Local Section, we planned the undergraduate program at the 62nd NORM in Boise, ID.
