The Northeast Texas Community College Chemistry Club is unique in its fundraising methods. This group of ACS student affiliates receives a grant from the Texas Education Agency to fund their mobile demonstration, the Science Roadshow. Since members of the club volunteer their time to perform these demonstrations for local grade school students, a large portion of the money received from the grant goes to the club's account. The student affiliates also volunteer their time to judge a science fair open to students from numerous area public schools, an activity which is funded by the local TEA Regional Education Service Center. Additionally, the chemistry club receives funding from campus-wide club fundraisers, including an annual Halloween fair. These novel fundraising methods allow the club to take five to eight students to the ACS national meeting each year and hold numerous functions.
