CHED 174 |
| Over two decades, I have taught freshman chemistry at Louisiana Tech using traditional teaching methods: 1) Lecture and chalk board, and 2) Lecture, power point and web resources. I have incorporated "POGIL type" lesson plans into classrooms after my brief exposure to POGIL through a three-day POGIL workshop at Texas Wesleyan University in the summer of 2005. I have developed POGIL lesson plans by modifying previous teaching resources for the freshman and inorganic chemistry courses I teach at Louisiana Tech University. I will be presenting my initial experience at the workshop as well as how it was adopted to suit the curricular requirements, it changed my perception about student learning, and it increased the student involvement. |
