Results on synthetic efforts directed toward thymol derivatives and subsequent biological testing will be presented. Derivatives of the monoterpene antibiotic thymol were prepared using standard reactions of organic chemistry. These derivatives were tested for bioactivity using the Bauer-Kirby disk susceptibility test. Comparing diameters of inhibition zones resultant from thymol to those resulting from the thymol derivatives allowed the pharmacophore of thymol to be probed.
