There are several excellent textbooks on mass spectrometry, however most of these are written at the graduate or profession level and few target the undergraduate audience. To address this problem, we are preparing a series of mass spectrometry Internet books; our first book, Basic GC-MS, will be the subject of this poster. Our target audience is specifically undergraduate students, and our approach includes (1) standard textual content, (2) lab experiments and results illustrating various sample preparation techniques, chromatographic problems, and important instrument settings, and (3) animations to illustrate how each component of a mass spectrometer works. A computer will be available to illustrate the most important animations. The Ebook will soon be available for viewing at http://people.whitman.edu/~dunnivfm/
