CHED 767

Jean-Claude Bradley, bradlejc@drexel.edu, Department of Chemistry, Drexel University, 3141 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104
The use of Second Life to teach undergraduate organic chemistry will be described. Examples include delivering quizzes, running "orgo races", viewing recorded lectures, building 3D molecules and visualizing reactions. The positive aspects of networking and socializing will be explored, as well as the challenges of teaching in virtual environments. Comparisons will be made between Second Life and other social software, such as blogs and wikis, as teaching tools.
