We developed colorimetric narcotic sensors from short DNA sequences called aptamers and long DNA polymers (PolyGC). Binding studies with organic dyes were performed with circular dichroism (CD) and UV-visible spectroscopy. Our results gave insight into the binding mechanisms well as the DNA conformation. The goal of this our work is the development of sensitive, reliable, and economical narcotic molecular color sensors for use in the law enforcement, forensics, or commercial industry.
