This talk will focus on recent studies of the electrical characteristics of individual semiconductor nanorods and tetrapods. The studies include an investigation of the nature of the electrical contacts between evaporated metal electrodes and the nanocrystals. The dependence of the charging energies on nanorod length and diameter, and changes in the electrical characteristics when there is a branch point in a tetrapod will also be discussed.
