Nanoelectrodes and nanopipets can be used as tools for quantitative electrochemical measurements on the nanoscale. The focus is currently shifting from preparation and characterization of electrochemical nanoprobes to their practical applications. The applications discussed in this paper include single molecule electrochemistry in zeptoliter volumes, electrochemical imaging on the nanoscale, nanoelectrochemistry of biological cells, and nanoelectrochemical devices for fluid delivery.
