The title of this talk is taken from remarks made by Dick Zare during a presentation at the Gordon Conference on Chemistry Education Research and Practice in 2005. He was discussing the goals we have for teaching and learning and what is important for us to emphasize as we educate our students. He emphasized that skills such as problem solving are one of the most important outcomes for any student. This presentation will focus on our ongoing research on problem solving and how we can use it in the classroom to help students.
